Drawing on the function of the physical heart

Last night I was experiencing some depression, and as I was going to bed I listened to this meditation on youtube by Andrew Weil. In it he guides you to tune into what the heart is actually doing – pumping old blood into the lungs to be rejuvenated, and sending rejuvenating blood back out into the body. But, he mentions, the first place the heart sends fresh blood to is to itself. Without this act of self-love, the heart would not be able to support the rest of the body. Feeling into this, my system suddenly relaxed into contentment…very rare for me to experience such a shift from that low energy state I was in. Anyway here’s the link if you want to try it, a short 5 minute meditation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxxCkNhpCvg

After Dropping in and checking the heart which felt light and tingly, I felt a light uplifting sensation throughout my spine that I recognize as gratitude. Then I felt a thick flowing energy moving into the ground which I know to be confidence. The interpretation I get is that including what is nourishing as we meet our challenges is just like what Dr Weil is articulating, so it feels like such a reinforcing message. Cool and Thanks!

Thank you.  I loved that Heart meditation.  It made me realize that, at it’s most basic level, the heart shows itself love.  As I drop into my heart space, it fills with warmth and a vibrant sensation.  Acceptance comes like an openness and an invitation to hug.

“One must put in her own oxygen mask before helping the person next to you.” 😉
My heart beat increased as I listened and then slowed way down with a warm pulsing into my hands. The light that settled in as warmth & gratitude for this practice 🙏🏼💗🙏🏼💗
